Asia Argento is an Italian actress and film director who was born into a large family of both. She's taken on these two careers for herself. Sogni e bisogni, directed by Sergio Citti and starring Asia Argento, at nine, was her very first film. In 1988 The Church, a film by Michele Soavi The Church was directed by Michele Soavi and she played in the role of Cristina Comencini's Zoo. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, was her role in the role of Nanni Moretti's young daughter. Close Friends (written and directed by Michele Placido) was when Asia's acting career took off. She played roles that ranged from very young before becoming more mature. Cannes International Film Festival was a great movie's success. Trauma was her first film produced with her father. Her mother Daria Nicoledi, was Argento's most beloved actress. In Trauma she played an anorexic seeking her parents' murderer. The Phantom of the Opera The film, made by her late father and is the final of three movies she's been involved in. The other two were Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni employed her deeply absorbed and intense acting style in the film Condannato a Nozze. Patrice Chereau helmed Queen Margot for which she played a crucial character. In 1995, her collaboration with Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another David di Donatello award as well as Grolla di Oro. Asia began directing short films in the year 1994. She made two: Prospettive in 1996. She directed a document about her father and then Abel/Asia in 1998, about the legendary director Abel Ferrara. This latter was awarded at the Rome Film Festival. In 1999 Asia made her feature-directing debut with Scarlet Diva (2000), where she played the main actress and writer of the screenplay. The film came out in May 2000 across Italy and the rest of the world. It was awarded a special prize at the Williamsburg Film Festival in Brooklyn. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After the directing of several music videos she had Anna Lou. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Bar's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) and Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's action thriller The Action. Asia also wrote a few short stories that were published in a variety of magazines.
